Exciting News: Joining the National Lib Dem Mental Health Group to Shape Policy

I am delighted to announce that I have been selected to join the newly established Mental Health Policy Group by the National Liberal Democrats party. This initiative presents a vital opportunity to address the pressing mental health challenges faced by our communities in Somerset and across the UK.

As a Parliamentary candidate and Deputy Chair of the Liberal Democrat Group at Somerset Council, I have been deeply committed to mental health advocacy. In my role as acting Chair of the Adults & Health Scrutiny Committee, I successfully championed the inclusion of suicide prevention in our work program. My focus is on developing mental health policies that intersect with active travel and engage voluntary and community groups.

The Mental Health Group will be led by Dr. Mohsin Khan, an accomplished NHS Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive experience in health care policy. Our mission is to review and enhance the Liberal Democrats’ mental health policies while effectively communicating the party’s core values of liberty, equality, democracy, and community.

I am enthusiastic about contributing to this vital work and collaborating with those who share my commitment to advancing mental health policies and suicide prevention initiatives that can truly make a difference in people’s lives.
