Accolades for Alhampton
When the Alhampton Inn was closed abruptly in November 2022 a spirited local community were having none of it. Utilising the skills and determination of villagers, they reopened the pub in just a matter of months.
Fast forward to the summer of 2024, the Ally has received national recognition: being awarded the prestigious 2024 Prince of Wales Award – supported by the Duchy of Cornwall and the Royal Bath & West of England Society.
This month, the story of the community-run pub in Alhampton was featured in the Sunday Times. I have been on hand to support the village in ways they have needed. I am so proud of what they have achieved with their special pub. I would love others around the county and country to learn from their achievement.
The Ally is more than a pub, it’s a community hub at the heart of this wonderful village. I only wish my Dad was around to see how it all turned out!
This weekend the pub and community are celebrating their 1st birthday as a community-run pub. This is how they are celebrating:
August 24th: Dogs Day Out, a fun dog show, barbeque and ice cream.
August 25th: Lots of family games, a barbeque, then live music and pizza in the evening.
Please come and help us celebrate the hard work of so many people.
