Food savings on the door step
This evening I helped deliver food, that would have been thrown away from a busy village shop, to people who could made good use of It.
These days shops and supermarkets encourage community groups to take and distribute unsold food.
Having “saved” food delivered to people’s homes has advantages for people who can’t leave their homes for health reasons, or some might feel there is a stigma with taking free food.
If you are in Mendip South and want to volunteer for a food saving community group, Get in touch. It can take around an hour per delivery, so just an hour a week helps many families and individuals benefit from food, that would have gone to waste.
